The Virginia Office on Volunteerism and Community Services’ Advisory Committee to the Governor has recognized Hope1Source volunteer and AmeriCorps VISTA alum Frank V. Adames as a recipient of its prestigious 2022 National Service Award.
As a volunteer with Hope1Source since 2016, Frank, along with many other committed volunteers, is responsible for the community experience of vulnerable residents accessing services. Hope1Source is a verified network of people and services that partners with organizations who serve those most vulnerable, including those experiencing homelessness and refugees. During his volunteer service with Hope1Source, nearly 40,000 vulnerable people have connected to nearby verified services by serving many of those organizations who assist them. They include health, housing, career, and social services in a growing number of communities across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast.
Frank lived in poverty within one of the most expensive communities within the United States for 3.5 years to advance Hope1Source’s mission through AmeriCorps, living on a small stipend. Since completing his AmeriCorps service, Frank has steadily committed 10-15 hours of volunteer service each week where he co-leads a group of volunteers to advance solutions that measurably improve what people are thinking, feeling, and doing when it comes to equitably accessing services.
The awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. The physical award was mailed prior to the event since all honorees will be virtually live streamed. The photos included are a recognition ceremony held by a few Hope1Source team members at the Martin Luther King Memorial in Washington, DC. As a dedicated volunteer with Hope1Source and an AmeriCorps alumni, Frank has proven that anyone can serve, and that it can have many rewards -- both personally and professionally.
