Connecting People and Services with a Great Experience

HopeOneSource first started in Haiti in 2010 with the goal to use widely accessible cell phones to connect local services and unmet needs with medical service providers after the major Haiti earthquake.

In 2015, HopeOneSource founder Tim Underwood and his wife Allie went undercover to experience homelessness in DC for four days and three nights, where they identified a similar gap to Haiti with the need to simply and effectively connect vulnerable people to verified nearby services they need for rapid resolution. At the request of the DC government, Tim and others began to adapt it for different use cases. It has continuously expanded into a vast network of people and services. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tim resigned from his federal job to advance this full-time.
